Our Story ...
Long before these vibrant jars were packed and shipped to doorsteps across the UK, their story began over 65 years ago in a courtyard in a small Gujarati village near Surat, India. My grandmother was the master of her kitchen, the keeper of precious culinary secrets that could not be found in any cookbook.
Every morning, the village air would grow heavy with the strong aroma of roasted mustard seeds, earthy cumin, and dried red chillies being pounded into fine masalas by hand. She would sit in the shade, expertly balancing the sharp bite of raw green mangoes with the deep, sweetness of dark jaggery to craft her signature Gujarati mango chutney. Her hands, stained golden with fresh spices, worked with a rhythm born of pure intuition as she prepared fiery Chilli & Lime pickle, vibrant Coriander Chutney, and her legendary crushed mixed pickle. She didn't just cook; she crafted time capsules. The finished pickles and chutneys were carefully spooned into heavy ceramic pots, sealed tight with cotton cloth, and left to mature perfectly in the intense heat of the Indian sun.
These weren't merely side dishes—they were the soul of the family table. As the recipes were passed down from mother to daughter, they traveled thousands of miles, carrying the essence of that village kitchen across oceans. Today, the landscape may have changed from Gujarat to the cooler, green valleys of Staffordshire, but the heritage remains entirely untouched. The very same 60 -year-old family recipes are brought to life with the exact same devotion in every small, artisan batch.
What began as a grandmother’s labor of love in rural India has blossomed into a proud family tradition that you can now bring to your own table. A taste of that rich, vibrant history, preserved across generations, is now lovingly crafted and available at www.curryboxuk.com.
